1946
William L. Lyon founded Lyon and Associates with 25 agents at 911 8th Street in Downtown Sacramento.


1950s
With foresight and vision, William L. Lyon introduced new ideas and business models to Sacramento’s real estate industry:

  • Introduced the business model of real estate branch offices with central administration office.

  • Hired the first woman sales agent in the Sacramento Metropolitan area.

  • Purchased land and subdivided it into residential lots, including:

    • Parkwood Estates

    • Woodcrest Estates

    • Norwood Estates

    • Rancho Grande

1960s

  • Introduced El Macero Country Club Estates with 400 homes on an 18-hole champion golf course, complete with its own Post Office – the first of its kind in the region.

  • Lyon grows to almost 10 offices with just under 100 agents.
     

1970s

  • Administration office moved from 25th and J Streets to 2580 Fair Oaks Boulevard, now known as Lyon Village.

  • William L. Lyon passes

  • William’s wife, Karine Lyon, named President

  • Grand opening of Fair Oaks office at 6815 Madison Avenue

  • Grand opening of Davis office at 401 2nd Street

  • Grand opening of Sierra Oaks office at 2580 Fair Oaks Boulevard
     

1980s

  • Michael Lyon named President

  • Lyon Real Estate is official REALTOR® for the Sacramento Kings; percentage of income earned by agents returned to the Kings Foundation to assist local charities

  • Lyon introduces yard signs with property flyers and brochures - we've come a long way!

  • Lyon purchases one of the first digital cameras for $15,000 with the ability to save one picture on each 3 ½-inch floppy disk!

  • Lyon introduces Photovision, allowing buyers to view homes online
     

1990s

  • Median price for home in Sacramento County: $130,700

  • Grand opening of Downtown Sacramento office at 2801 J Street

  • Grand opening of Auburn office at 1919 Grass Valley Highway

  • Grand opening of El Dorado Hills office at 3900 Park Drive

  • Grand opening of Folsom office at 150 Natoma Station Drive

  • Grand opening of Roseville office at 2220 Douglas Boulevard

  • Median price for home in Sacramento County: $188,700
     

2000s

  • Grand opening of Administration office at 3640 American River Drive

  • Lyon announces affiliation with The Leading Real Estate Companies of the World™

  • Grand opening of West Roseville/Rocklin office at 851 Pleasant Grove Boulevard

  • Grand opening of Grass Valley office at 120 N. Auburn Street

  • Grand opening of Cameron Park office at 3360 Coach Lane

  • Grand opening of West Sacramento office at 2105 Town Center Plaza

  • Grand opening of Fair Oaks East office at 8055 Madison Avenue

  • Jean Li named President and Chief Operating Officer

  • Median price for home in Sacramento County: $260,000

  • Lyon makes its television debut

  • Grand opening of Elk Grove office at 9591 Laguna Springs Drive

  • Median price for home in Sacramento County: $371,500

  • Lyon was named Best Real Estate Company 2005 by customers and readers of Sacramento Magazine, surpassing Coldwell Banker, Re/Max Gold, Century 21, Dunnigan Realtors and Keller Williams

  • Lyon was named Best Company to Work For 2005 by Sacramento Magazine, the only real estate company of the 12 companies chosen to receive this honor.

  • New Homes Division launches

  • Grand opening of Natomas office at 2400 Del Paso Boulevard
