Granite Bay is an upscale community in Placer County situated just east of Roseville and west of Folsom Lake. Due to its prestigious feel and central location, Granite Bay is home to some of the region’s most affluent and influential people. And it has been especially attractive to those fleeing the Bay Area; here, you can get a whole lot more square footage and luxuries for your dollar than you will typically find in the Bay Area.
From community parks to spacious backyards, let’s explore just a handful of qualities that make Granite Bay a wonderful place to call home.
Upscale Community Filled With Luxury Homes
Granite Bay hosts some of the region’s finest homes, including a variety of custom-built luxury Spanish-style and Tudor properties. There are a number of homes for sale in Granite Bay valued at over $1 million — and some well over $3 million. These compound estates enjoy large lots, sparkling pools, home theaters, granite floors, and other opulent features.
The area is comprised of gated, semi-gated, and open neighborhoods. Some of the most desirable communities in Granite Bay include Los Lagos, Wexford, and Shelborne, all of which are gated and filled with some of the community’s most impressive luxury homes.

Feist Park, which collectively offer a number of playgrounds, picnic areas, tennis courts, and soccer and baseball fields.
Situated Next to Folsom Lake
Many choose Granite Bay due to its immediate access to the expansive Folsom Lake, which is situated directly east of the community. The popular lake and its surrounding recreation area offer opportunities for camping, hiking, biking, picnicking, horseback riding, waterskiing, boating, and fishing. In fact, the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area is one of the most-visited parks in the state’s park system — and it’s easy to see why! Granite Bay residents enjoy convenient access to this renowned regional attraction.
Maintains a Beautiful Rural Setting
Despite its increased development in recent years, Granite Bay maintains a rural and country feel. Many homes enjoy uninterrupted views of surrounding scenery, including the Sierra Foothills, Folsom Lake, and serene rolling hills. Large lots and well-maintained landscaping give the area a laid-back, suburban feel.
Granite Bay is known for its exceptional schools. The Eureka Union School District consistently holds the highest academic performance index of any district within 50 miles of Sacramento and is a major draw for the community, along with the neighboring Roseville Joint Union School District. The Eureka Union School District is also one of the few districts in California with its own parent-sponsored educational foundations. Both districts offer International Baccalaureate level education programs, available at Granite Bay High School and Oakmont High School.
Variety of Homes for Sale
We’re all aware of the extravagant luxury homes for sale in Granite Bay, but don’t be discouraged if your budget doesn’t quite allow for indoor saunas, elevators, home theaters, or double ovens. There is a wide variety of properties in Granite Bay, including smaller homes priced under $700,000. However, these simpler homes still enjoy the luxurious feel of the upscale Granite Bay community!
Great Golf Courses
Granite Bay is surrounded by a number of golf courses, including the renowned Granite Bay Golf Club. Situated at the southern tip of Granite Bay, the club is a certified Audubon International Signature Sanctuary with a championship 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Kyle Phillips. There is a concentration of businesses at the intersection of Douglas Boulevard and Auburn Folsom Road, where you’ll find the Country Gables Shopping Center and the Granite Bay Village Shopping Center. Travel west on Douglas to encounter Quarry Ponds Town Center, home to Hawks, a refined American eatery with outdoor seating overlooking the lake. Plus, the southwest area of Granite Bay is home to a number of casual eateries and conveniences.
While Granite Bay has a myriad of attractions and luxuries in its boundaries, residents may easily access Roseville and downtown Sacramento for additional amenities. Granite Bay is close to I-80, which makes commuting in and out of downtown easier for residents working in the city.
Summer Farmers’ Market
In the agriculturally rich region of Sacramento, nearly every community has its own farmers’ market — and Granite Bay is no exception! The Granite Bay Farmers’ Market meets from June through October at the Quarry Ponds Town Center from 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m. on Sundays. And residents may access farm-fresh produce and homemade goods all year long with a visit to the Roseville Farmers’ Market at the Whole Foods Market at the Fountains each Tuesday from 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
