Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the 45 Hour Continuing Education Package
Salesperson - Second or Subsequent Renewal
All salespersons, with the exception of those renewing for the first time, and all real estate brokers are required to complete 45 hours of continuing education each license renewal period. This means that when you are renewing your license for the second or subsequent time (not your first renewal), you need the full 45-hour package.
Effective July 1, 2007
All licensees, with a license renewal date on or after July 1, 2007, must complete a DRE approved 3-hour course in Risk Management as part of their 45-hour renewal. This change does not increase the overall required 45 hours of continuing education needed for license renewal. The 45-hour requirement must include separate 3-hour courses in the mandatory subjects of Agency, Ethics, Fair Housing, Trust Fund Handling, and now Risk Management.
