Natomas is a community located in the northwestern area of Sacramento, with easy access to Interstate 80, Interstate 5, Highway 99, and downtown Sacramento, making it a great location for professionals who commute. Natomas is last area of Sacramento that has not been fully developed and saw major growth in the 1990s and 2000s.
Sleep Train Arena, which hosts more than 200 entertainment and sports events annually, is located in Natomas, as is the Sacramento International Airport. The area offers many convenient amenities including shopping, restaurants, weekly farmer’s markets and entertainment for all ages.
Natomas is home to two exemplary school districts. The Natomas Unified School District was named one of the most diverse school districts in a New York Times study. For a more personalized experience, private schools in the area are highly sought after. Higher education institutions in the area include California State University Sacramento, as well as a University of Phoenix campus in Natomas.
Natomas’s Department of Parks and Recreation offers an array of programs, services and facilities for residents. In addition to the 43 parks sprinkled through the area, there are two major parks in Natomas featuring playground structures, ball fields, dog parks, a water park and an amphitheater. Other amenities include a community center, library, rose garden and light rail station.
The Natomas Basin Habitat Conservation Plan acquires and manages land in the area for the benefit of the 22 “special status” species that are protected in the area.
